35 Then the king appointed Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his place over the army, and the king appointed Zadok the priest in place of Abiathar.
36 Then the king sent and summoned Shimei, and he said to him, “Build yourself a house in Jerusalem and live there, but you must not go out anywhere whatsoever[a] from there. 37 It shall happen that on the day you go out and cross over the Wadi[b] Kidron, know for certain that you will surely die.[c] Your blood will be on your head.”
